E1 World Championship 2024, 2025
The E1 World Championship is the world’s first all‑electric offshore powerboat racing series, launched in 2024 by former Formula 1 engineer Rodi Basso and Alejandro Agag, founder of Formula E. Boats called RaceBirds are hydrofoil electric boats powered by 150 kW motors, reaching speeds of up to ~50 knots (~93 km/h)
Season 1 began with the E1 Jeddah GP in February 2024, marking the series’ debut event.
Season 2 officially kicked off at the same venue in January 24–25, 2025, at the Jeddah Corniche, hosting the first race of the expanded calendar across seven global events
Nine international teams, each featuring both male and female pilots, participated. Team ownership includes global names like Steve Aoki, Tom Brady, LeBron James (Team AlUla), Rafael Nadal (Team Rafa), Virat Kohli (Team Blue Rising), Will Smith (Westbrook Racing), Marc Anthony (Team Miami), Didier Drogba and others
The event is backed by the Saudi Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Water Sports and Diving Federation, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s projects to boost sports and sustainability sectors
